Adult Psychotherapy is for any adult over the age of 18. If you are younger than this or seeking help for someone under the age of 18 years old or are worried about your child, then please see the child therapy section of my website.

If you have found yourself on this page, well done for making it this far. Chances are you would not be here if you were not experiencing some difficulties and the decision to start looking at therapy can feel a little daunting. I have put together some of the commonly asked questions but if you have a question that you cannot find the answer to, feel free to pop me an email.

Questions and Answers

Q. What is an initial consultation?

A. This 15 minute phone call gives you a sense of who I am, allows you to ask any initial questions and allows me to help you decided if therapy is the right course of action for you.

Q. How long are the sessions?

A. Each session is 50 minutes long

Q. How many sessions do I need?

A. This depends on the nature of your difficulty and is something we would discuss during the assessment session, which is your first session.

Q. Where will the sessions take place?

A. At present all sessions are remote (video meet or telephone).

Q. What is involved in the assessment session?

A. An assessment involves me getting a good idea as to what is going on for you at the moment and how I might help. During this session we can discuss how many sessions you might need and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you have. You will be provided with a copy of a contract which we will both enter into prior to the start of your psychotherapy sessions and we will discuss the next steps forward.

Q. What if I can’t make it to my session?

A: I do require 24 hours notice for any cancellations. However, where possible I will try to rearrange the session for you.

Q. Will it be confidential?

A: Yes. Absolutely. All material discussed in sessions remains between us. Unless I feel there is a serious risk of harm, sessions are kept confidential. However, if on the occasion I feel it would be helpful to share information with other professionals, I will endeavour to discuss this with you first.

Q. What happens if I’m not sure Psychotherapy is for me?

A: This is where the assessment is really helpful. It is during this time I can let you know whether or not I feel psychotherapy is the best route for you.

Q. Who will the sessions be with?

A: All assessments and sessions will be with myself.

Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.
